Report: Orlando Signs Dee Brown

July 30, 2000

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ Free agent Dee Brown and the Orlando Magic have agreed on a contract.

Brown, a guard who has played the past three seasons for the Toronto Raptors, told the Orlando Sentinel he will join the Magic for the league minimum for a 10-year veteran _ $1 million a year.

Brown, 31, came into the league with Boston in 1990. He has played both point and shooting guard, and would be a reserve with the Magic.

``I’ll be the old man on this team, the senior spokesman,″ Brown said Friday. ``But I’ll take the role seriously on and off the court. I’ve still got a lot of basketball left in me. I’m smart enough to run a team, and I consider myself a pretty good shooter.″

Free agents can sign contracts as of Tuesday.
