Baseball’s back

February 22, 2019

BULLHEAD CITY — Wednesday marked the return of Arizona Interscholastic Association baseball to the Tri-state, as the T-birds beat the visiting Dust Devils 3-1 at Mohave High School.

Mohave senior left-handed hurler Jaedyn Eastman started and did not figure in the decision. He gave up one run on three hits, while striking out eight, walking three and hitting two batters in three innings.

T-birds junior right-handed pitcher Brayden Jones gave up no runs on no hits, while striking out four and walking four in four innings to earn the victory.

In addition to freshman Dylan Crandall’s two hits and two RBI and Eastman’s triple, sophomore Conner Dubois recorded two hits, and senior Andrew Avalos and Jones added one hit apiece.

Senior Atom McKay was hit by a pitch, stole two bases and scored one run for Mohave.

CORRECTION: River Valley’s lone run was not scored off an error committed by Eastman. It was scored when the Mohave southpaw walked home one run in the top of the first inning.

CORRECTION II: In Wednesday’s Daily News article “Six Devils return from last season” River Valley head coach Anthony Fregozo was not identified correctly.
