Candy’s Place Plans 22nd Annual Walk
Candy’s Place Cancer and Wellness Center will hold its 22nd annual walk at its center in Forty Fort on Saturday, May 18. The public is encouraged to join in and walk for a good cause. The walk will begin and end at Candy’s Place’s new space, at 190 Welles St., Suite 166, located next to Leverage in Forty Fort. Cost is $25 if pre-registered in advance. Day of event registration cost is $35. Teams are welcome. The 13th person is free for those sponsoring a 12 person team. For information, call 570-714-8800. Candy’s Place thanked Mericle Commercial for sponsoring their walk this year. As a cancer wellness and resource center, Candy’s Place works to provide support to cancer patients and their loved ones. Their staff strives to add dignity and quality of life for those living with cancer. Their services are free to cancer patients and their loved ones and are offered to the public for a small fee. There are a variety of programs and services to choose from. The center is open to both men and women with all types of cancer. Plymouth Kiwanis host Key Club The Plymouth Kiwanis Club recently hosted officers and advisers of the Wyoming Valley West High School Key Club. The Plymouth Kiwanians have been the sponsors of the local Key Club to Kiwanis International for decades. Key Club advisers Mallory Lewis and Kristen Kaminski offered an overview of the mission and objectives of the organization. Key Club President Anthony Severns followed with a presentation on past, current and future projects and activities in both the high school and the surrounding communities that are undertaken by Key Club members to provide for their betterment. The Plymouth Kiwanis Club and Wyoming Valley West Key Club work together annually to ring the bell for the Salvation Army’s holiday kettle project and have jointly worked to provide support to the annual Halloween Parade in Plymouth. Plymouth VFW pasta dinner The Plymouth VFW Post 1425 will host a spaghetti dinner from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 31, in the Shawnee Room at Happy Pizza, Main Street, Plymouth. Donation is $15. Proceeds will benefit “The Wall that Heals” that is coming to Plymouth. It will be on display from Sept. 5-8. Church rummage sale The Confraternity of Christian Mothers of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, will sponsor a rummage sale in the school gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, April 1, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 2. Tuesday is also $2/bag day. There will be a bake sale, refreshments, food and more. Variety bingo A variety bingo will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, on Sunday, April 7, in the school gymnasium. Doors open at noon and games begin at 1 p.m. Cost is $10 and includes 20 games with a $200 cash coverall. Daubers are needed and can be purchased at the event. Extra cards, basket raffle and instant bingo will be available. Lunch and a bake sale will also be featured. Seating is limited to 250.
