Police: Cocaine found in Andover man’s vehicle
ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) — An Andover man is held on $5 million bail after police say they found 105 pounds of cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop.
Jose Martinez pleaded not guilty Monday in Lawrence District Court to charges of trafficking more than 200 grams of cocaine and illegal possession of a firearm.
Police say the 52-year-old Martinez’s SUV was pulled over on Interstate 495 North at about 1 p.m. Friday. The arrest was the result of a three-month long investigation.
State police say they seized 105 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $4.5 million.
Police called it one of the largest drug seizures in recent history.
Martinez is due back in court May 6.
