Bull Escapes From Rodeo, Is Shot Dead
BANGOR, Maine (AP) _ A 1,700-pound Brahman bull escaped from a rodeo and went on a two-hour rampage, injuring eight people before it was shot dead, police said.
Officers fired at the bull after game wardens failed to subdue it with tranquilizer darts, said police Capt. Richard Stockford. He said none of the injuries was life-threatening.
The bull, named Dallas, bucked its rider Wednesday afternoon and broke through a fence at the Bangor Raceway, Stockford said.
Police and cowboys pursued the bull through woods between the Bangor Municipal Golf Course and a residential street. It was finally cornered and was shot with tranquilizer darts, police said.
But the bull the bolted toward the golf course and later returned to the raceway. From the track’s infield, it charged toward the grandstand and a parked car with police officers inside, police said. Officers then shot the animal.
