‘Other Desert Cities’: Family drama from Saybrook Stage

January 9, 2019

The shoreline troupe Saybrook State Company brings a heart-wrenching but heart-warming family drama to the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center Thursday, Jan. 17, through Sunday, Jan. 20 in “Other Desert Cities.”

Written by Jon Robin Baitz, the play opened on Broadway in November 2011 and received critical acclaim in addition to Tony Award nominations for Best Play; Best Actress and Best Scenic Design.

The story is a poignant one about the strong bond and love of family that overcomes any differences between individual family members. The play explores questions such as: What is the price a family will pay to protect their good name? What is the price parents will pay to protect their children?

Starring are Leslie Singer, Jim Hile, Mary Corigliano, Terri Corigliano and Glenn Ghirardi.

The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook, Thursday, Jan. 17, to Jan. 20. 8 p.m. except for Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. $23-$17. 860-510-0453. www.thekate.org
