BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) _ Alan Beilke kicked a 50-yard field goal with six seconds remaining Saturday to lift Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo to a 20-19 victory over Montana State.
The field goal capped a nine-play, 58-yard drive that started on the Cal Poly 9-yard-line following a botched field goal attempt by MSU (5-4) with 1:59 remaining.
Cal Poly (8-1), an independent team ranked 23rd in NCAA Division I-AA, trailed 13-0 in the second quarter before Alli Abrew hit Kamil Loud on a 50-yard touchdown pass.
Abrew’s 1-yard scoring run at 6:39 in the second quarter gave Cal Poly a 14-13 halftime advantage.
MSU quarterback Rob Compson hit Tony Vallez on a 42-yard scoring pass with 11:33 left in the third quarter, giving the Bobcats a 19-14 lead after the 2-point conversion failed.
Beilke hit a 42-yard field goal with 14:49 to play and then kicked his second game-winner of the year.
Compson hit Eric Kinnaman on a 25-yard scoring pass in the first quarter and Travis Wright scored on a 5-yard run early in the second quarter to give the Bobcats the early lead.
Abrew completed 16 of 23 passes for 230 yards. Loud had six receptions for 125 yards and Antonio Warren rushed for 87 yards on 21 carries.
Compson completed 5 of 14 passes for 96 yards and Lathian Tyler had 17 carries for 89 yards for the Bobcats of the Big Sky Conference.
