Richter Association for the Arts hosts annual Member Art Show & Sale, performances

Richter Association for the Arts in Danbury is hosting its 2019 Member Art Show & Sale that includes two weekends of art and performances.

On Saturday, May 11, the art show opens at 2 p.m., at Richter House, 100 Aunt Hack Road, featuring regional artists exhibiting their works in photography, sculpture, oils, watercolors and pastels. There will be an award ceremony at 3 for both Excellence and Merit prizes.

On Sunday, May 12, from 3 to 4 p.m., comedian Chris Monty will once again bring his family friendly routine to Richter House. Last time there, the comedian “had everyone laughing. Bring mom out for an afternoon of fun,” according to a news release.

The Member Art Show & Sale continues on Sunday, May 19, at 2 p.m., followed at 3 with a performance by the Blue River Jazz Band, which features music from New Orleans, along with songs by great jazz artists like Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, Duke Ellington and more.

Following the jazz performance, there will be a wine-and-cheese reception, from 4 to 6 p.m., plus an update for the Richter House renovations

Admission to the Sunday Afternoon Performance Series free. A $10-plus donation to help offset some of the cost of the performance accepted. Parking is in the nearby golf course parking lot. Look for the shuttle service provided between the house and the parking lot. Handicap parking available on the lawn area directly at the House. No parking in the narrow section of the driveway at any time.
