Owner of dogs suspected in deadly attack faces 2017 charges
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — The Mississippi Gulf Coast woman who owns two dogs believed to have killed a 75-year-old woman has been arrested.
Local media report that 32-year-old Emily Craft of Gulfport was booked Wednesday and released on previous misdemeanor dog-at-large and vicious animal charges.
Gulfport police haven’t filed charges in Wednesday’s death of an unnamed woman.
Diana Jones tells the Sun Herald that she filed charges last July after two of Craft’s pit bulls entered her neighboring yard, attacking and injuring her dog.
Jones says one of those pit bulls took part in Wednesday’s attack.
Jones says dogs entered her yard a second time, but she and her pets escaped injury.
Investigators say Wednesday’s victim appears to have opened a gate to Craft’s yard.
The pit bulls have been surrendered to animal control.
