Registration for Signature Races now open

January 3, 2019

It may still be cold out, but the season is heating up for athletes in The Woodlands.

The Woodlands Township announced the opening of registration for its Signature Races series on Tuesday, including the Muddy Trails Bash, the Memorial Hermann 10 For Texas and the Woodforest Bank TRI triathlon.

“The Woodlands is known around the world for its outdoor recreation and active lifestyle,” said Nick Wolda, the Township’s director of communications. “These events draw thousands of residents who either participate or volunteer.”

First up is the 12th annual Muddy Trails Bash on April 9 — a zydeco-themed 5K and 10K run with a Little Muddy Kids’ Fun Run, a 2K-9 Dog Fun Run and crawfish cook-off.

The township caps the race at 1,000 total participants and the courses of the USA Track & Field-sanctioned event go through the George Mitchell Nature Preserve.

On May 11, the 16th Woodforest Bank TRI will bring 1,300 triathletes to Northshore Park for a 500-meter open water swim, bike race and 5K run through The Woodlands Waterway area.

Finally, on Oct. 12, the 14th annual Memorial Hermann 10 For Texas will offer a 10-mile course, the 3.1 Armadillo Run 5K and the One 4 Texas Kids’ Fun Run at Northshore Park.

After the races, the 2,500 participants can relax at the official post-race party with live country music at Northshore Park.

“These events create great opportunities for residents of The Woodlands to participate and be part of their hometown,” Wolda said.
