Wales lock Davies undergoes shoulder surgery

November 21, 2013

CARDIFF, Wales (AP) — Lock Bradley Davies is the latest player to join Wales’ long-term injury list after undergoing surgery on the shoulder he hurt in last weekend’s 40-6 win over Argentina.

Davies, who started against South Africa and Argentina in the autumn home series, will miss next week’s test against Australia, and is a serious doubt for the Six Nations.

He was released by Wales back to Cardiff Blues with regional teammate Cory Allen, who dislocated his shoulder against the Pumas on debut.

Others seriously injured before and during the home series include Jamie Roberts (ankle), Alex Cuthbert (ankle), Jonathan Davies (chest), Adam Jones (calf), Eli Walker (hamstring) and Rhys Patchell (shoulder).

British Lions forward Ian Evans, back from a six-week layoff with Achilles trouble, looks set to partner Alun-Wyn Jones in the second row against the Wallabies next week if he survives Friday’s match with Tonga at Millennium Stadium.
