Tewksbury Carjacking Suspect Arrested

October 8, 2018

TEWKSBURY -- A 21-year-old Wilmington man is behind bars after pointing a handgun at a man’s head during an attempted carjacking outside 7-Eleven shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday, police say.

A masked Jacob M. Strow allegedly approached a man who was sitting inside his vehicle at 2280 Main St., and pointed a handgun at him in an attempt to rob him and steal the car, Tewksbury police stated in a press release.

A fight ensued between the victim, a man in his 60s, and Strow, police say. A passerby stopped to help the victim, which led to the suspect fleeing the scene on foot.

Strow was located a short distance away by Tewksbury and Wilmington police. Evidence was recovered, including a pellet handgun that resembled a handgun, police say.

Tewksbury police charged Strow, of 9 Allston Ave., with armed carjacking, armed assault with intent to rob a person over 60 years of age, assault and battery on a person over 60 and attempt to commit a crime.

Strow is slated to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Tuesday.
