State police name officers involved in Danbury shooting death
DANBURY — A city police officer who fatally shot a Danbury man and seriously wounded his elderly mother was identified by investigators on Tuesday, 10 days after the shooting.
Officer Alex Relyea shot and killed 45-year-old Paul Arbitelle, who was confronting the officer with a knife, state police said Tuesday morning. Arbitelle’s mother also was shot and was recovering at Danbury Hospital on Monday.
Officer Regina Guss was also at the scene of the Dec. 29 shooting outside the mother’s apartment, but she did not fire her hand gun, investigators said.
