28 CHS Musicians Selected for Ensembles
More than 1,100 music students from public and private schools across the northeastern part of Massachusetts auditioned recently for the 2019 Northeast Senior District Music Ensembles.
Out of that group, about 450 students from grades 9-12 were selected to participate in the prestigious Massachusetts Music Educators Association and perform in concert in Wakefield on Jan. 12.
And of that group, 28 of the musicians are from Chelmsford High School.
In addition to the 28 students accepted into Senior Districts, students who received a score in the top 50 percent of their area were eligible to audition for the MMEA All-State Ensembles. This year, 13 band, chorus and orchestra students from CHS received an All-State recommendation.
“We are so proud of the commitment of the students who auditioned and were accepted into this festival,” said Christina Whittlesey, coordinator of the fine and performing arts for Chelmsford Public Schools. “Students work for years to be able to perform and succeed at this level, and participating in this event is a real honor for them.”
