Bosnian police detain 11 terrorism suspects
SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) — Police in Bosnia say they detained 11 people suspected of terrorist activities including recruiting volunteers to fight for the Islamic State group in Syria.
Over 100 officers raided homes and businesses in the nationwide dragnet early Thursday.
Police said the raids were part of operation “Damask” which began in September with the arrest of 16 people accused of financing and organizing trips to Syria by volunteer IS fighters. Experts estimate that some 150 Bosnians have been recruited to fight for IS.
