Fred Taylor Out With Groin Injury

September 23, 2001

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ Jacksonville Jaguars running back Fred Taylor left Sunday’s game against Tennessee with a strained left groin.

Taylor, who has struggled with injuries through his four-year career, lost a fumble as he fell to the ground without contact in the second quarter.

Jaguars coach Tom Coughlin and Titans coach Jeff Fisher rushed to midfield to check on Taylor, who lay on the ground with his hand over his face.

Trainer Tim Ryan called for a cart to help Taylor off the field, but Taylor declined, instead coming off with the help of two Jaguars trainers, putting no weight on his left leg.

Last season, Taylor rushed for 1,399 yards despite missing the first three games with an injured knee. In 1999, he missed six games with a hamstring injury. In 1998, he ran for 1,223 yards, but missed parts of three games with a shoulder injury.
