Hearing scheduled on health insurance rate filings
BOSTON (AP) — The Massachusetts Division of Insurance has scheduled a public hearing on proposed health insurance premium hikes.
On Monday health insurers will get a chance to present the data and assumptions used to develop their proposed 2016 small group health insurance rate filings.
A public comment hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
Both sessions are scheduled to take place at the division’s headquarters at 1,000 Washington Street in Boston.
Many Massachusetts health insurers are proposing rate hikes for the new year.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, the state’s biggest commercial insurer, wants to raise premiums an average of 5 percent. Tufts Health Plan, Harvard Pilgrim Health and Fallon Health are also asking for rate hikes.
