MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — A new West Virginia judge is being sworn in next week.

The West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals said in a news release that R. Steven Redding will be sworn in during a ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday in Martinsburg. Redding was appointed to fill the vacancy in the 23rd Judicial Circuit covering Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties. The vacancy was created by the retirement last year of Judge Gray Silver III.

Redding will serve until a nonpartisan election in the May primary. Redding faces 24th Family Court Circuit Judge David Camilletti and attorney Kim Crockett of Falling Waters.
