Cyclist struck near Old Greenwich School

January 8, 2019

GREENWICH — Emergency personnel responded to the Old Greenwich School Tuesday morning after a young cyclist was struck by a vehicle.

Officials at Greenwich Emergency Medical Service said the youth was transported to Stamford Hospital, which has a specialized trauma unit, and the injuries were not described as life-threatening or major.

The vehicle was not traveling at a high rate of speed when the collision took place, according to authorities. Police and firefighters were also called to the scene. The area around the school is busy with cars, pedestrians and cyclists during the drop-off period, creating the opportunity for mishaps.
