Four Killed in House Fire
WHITTIER, Calif. (AP) _ Fire engulfed a two-story home Sunday morning, killing four people and injuring five, authorities said.
One of the dead was believed to be a boy 3 to 6 years old; the others were believed to be adults, fire authorities said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation. ″One of the people who called us said there might have been an explosion, but we have no confirmation of that,″ said Capt. Glenn Mutch of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The injured included a firefighter who suffered a cut leg; the four others were thought to be residents of the home. Their condition was not immediately known.
The fire occurred on the outskirts of Whittier, about 15 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
