MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Pat McCabe scored 15 points and hit a key 3-pointer to lead Wisconsin-Milwaukee to a 55-54 victory over the University of Illinois-Chicago Monday night.

The Panthers (7-17 overall, 4-10 in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference) who snapped a four-game losing streak, also got 13 points from Cyrus Caldwell and 12 from Otto McDuffie. The Flames (10-13, 9-5) lost their third straight and were led by Mark Miller with 19 points.

Caldwell hit a short jumper and McCabe made a 3-pointer to give Milwaukee a 55-51 lead with just over a minute to play in a see-saw game that had seen 17 ties. Theandre Kimbrough scored and then made one of two free throws to narrow the lead to 55-54.

Miller missed a short jumper with two seconds left and John Gilmore of Milwaukee recovered the rebound to seal the victory.

The score was tied 10 times in the first half, the last at 31-31 when Caldwell scored with 1:02 remaining.

Two free throws by Anthony Coomes gave Chicago a 33-31 halftime lead.
