Feb. 13, 1919: James Salazar Wins First Handicap Match Of The Rifle Club

Feb. 13, 1969: The thud of hammers, the shrill sound of power saws and the shouts of workmen can be heard on the vast, normally quiet McKee Ranch south of Santa Fe near Galisteo.

Carpenters are working furiously to complete construction of exterior movie sets for “The McMasters,” a $2 million motion picture to be filmed in the Santa Fe area.

Construction work on interior sets for the film has almost been completed at the New Mexico Film Center on Old Pecos Trail. The studio sets will be used to match location sets on McKee’s Ranch.

Feb. 13, 1994: VADITO — Eleven-year-old Antonio Gonzales believes everyone needs to pitch in to keep the Earth, including the pristine, evergreen-carpeted mountains of his hometown, from becoming spoiled.

Monday, Antonio is to give his message personally to Vice President Al Gore during the youngster’s first trip to Washington, D.C., as part of a national 20-member 1994 Earth Force Youth Advisory Board.
