Akre To Juneau, Alaska, Correspondent

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) _ Brian Akre, a newsman in the Portland, Ore., bureau of The Associated Press, has been named the AP’s Correspondent in Juneau.

Alaska Chief of Bureau Dean Fosdick announced the appointment Thursday.

Akre, 31, joined the AP in Portland in 1983 after working for the Grants Pass (Ore.) Daily Courier. He is a native of Long Beach, Calif., and a graduate of Humboldt State University.

He succeeds Sue Cross, who recently became the AP’s news editor in Dallas.
