Clemson hires former Stanford coach to lead Tigers’ program
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson has hired its first softball coach.
Athletic director Dan Radakovich said Friday that longtime Stanford coach John Rittman will lead the Tigers’ program when it begins competition in February 2020.
Rittman led Stanford to 16 NCAA Tournament appearances in 18 years. He spent the past two seasons as associate head coach at Kansas.
Radakovich says Rittman has the experience and the vision to build Clemson into a strong softball program.
Rittman worked with USA softball for 10 years and was part of the coaching staff that helped the Americans win a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and a silver medal in 2008 in Beijing.
