HS SOCCER: Lakeland’s Cortes Nets 100th Goal

Ethan Cortes scored his 100th career goal and Jerry Boyarsky netted the hat trick, including a pivotal goal late in the first half as Lakeland pulled away from Montrose, 7-2, in Wednesday’s battle of Lackawanna Soccer League Division II unbeatens.

Cortes scored twice and added an assist, and Boyarsky’s tally with 30 seconds left in the first half snapped a 2-2 tie.

Rachel Rose and Ione Fetsko cranked up the offense in the second half as unbeaten Scranton Prep pulled away for a 4-0 win over visiting Delaware Valley in a Division I game.

Rose scored twice after assisting on Kerry McGrath’s marker, and Fetsko assisted on both of Rose’s goals before she capped the scoring.
