NENCAP gives yearly update to Madison County Commissioners
MADISON - During the Madison County Commissioners meeting earlier this week an update was given to the board regarding activities of the Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership.
Head Start Assistant Director Nikki Peirce gave the update and talked about the services they provided Madison County last year, funding, and client satisfaction.
Peirce says nearly 21% of children in Madison County are food insecure, one half under 18 live below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level and 22% are under 100%.
“I think people are always surprised when they actually look in their own backyard because they don’t realize what is going on. The thing is your kids aren’t going to be the ones that can’t pay the bills so you don’t know what is going on with the kids. If mom and dad are having a hard time there’s other people affected which are typically the kids.”
Peirce says clients surveyed in Madison County were overwhelmingly pleased with the services they received.
She says 99% rated the quality of services they received as excellent or good, 97% indicated their needs have been entirely met, and 98% stated their situation has improved due to the help of NENCAP.
