CONCORD -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi will travel to Massachusetts next week for a fundraiser supporting 3rd Congressional District Democratic nominee Lori Trahan.

The Oct. 16 event will be hosted by Rufus Gifford, the former U.S. ambassador to Denmark, was one of Trahan’s opponents in the 10-way Democratic primary. Gifford tweeted out an invitation to the fundraiser, which runs from from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Colonial Inn.

“Primaries have winners and losers,” Gifford said in his tweet. “Those of us who don’t come out on top need to dust ourselves off and do all we can for the sake of our Democracy.”

The invitation suggested contributions of $2,700 -- the maximum an individual can donate to a campaign -- for co-hosts, $1,000 for sponsors and $500 for friends.

The event will be closed to the press, according to Trahan’s campaign, but organizers are planning media availability with Pelosi afterward.
