Waratahs winger Horne suspended for 1 match
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — New South Wales Waratahs winger Rob Horne has been suspended for one week for making a dangerous tackle in his team’s Super Rugby loss to the Sharks in South Africa on Saturday.
Horne pleaded guilty to the charge which related to a tackle on Sharks center Frans Steyn in the 16th minute of the match at Durban.
Judicial officer Jannie Lubbe said “video evidence of the incident clearly showed that Horne’s right arm made contact with (Steyn) in the neck and jaw area with what appeared to be a swinging arm.”
Horne has been suspended until April 6 and will miss the Waratah’s next match against the Stormers in Cape Town.
