No injuries reported when 2 train cars derail in Hoboken

December 7, 2016

HOBOKEN, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Transit says no injuries were reported when two cars of a train derailed as it was entering Hoboken Terminal last weekend.

The agency says the fourth and fifth cars of a six-car Bergen-Main Line train derailed around 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Sixty passengers were aboard the train but none were riding in the cars that derailed.

The cause of the derailment remains under investigation. But an agency spokesman says preliminary findings determined that actions by crew members were not a factor.

The train had departed from Waldwick at 11:35 a.m.

The derailment occurred about two months after an NJ Transit commuter train crashed while entering the Hoboken station. A woman inside the station was killed in the Sept. 29 accident while more than 100 people were injured.
