Walking event to be held Monday
Get Healthy Watertown and Walk Watertown will hold an event Monday to coincide with the American Heart Association’s National Walking Day activity.
In Watertown there will be four locations and times for people to take the opportunity to get a walk in. The schedule of indoor walks is as follows:
-- 5:30-7:30 a.m., Watertown YMCA: People should enter via the main entrance and check in at the registration desk. Walkers will have to sign a waiver form and will be able to walk in the gym area.
-- 1-2 p.m., Watertown Senior and Community Center: Those using the center may go to the information desk just inside the entrance. There will be a check-in sheet and people may use the fitness area on the lower level.
-- 4-5 p.m., Marquardt Towne Centre: When entering, individuals should head to the lower level where a table will be set up and a waiver form needs to be signed.
-- 5:30-6:30 p.m., Watertown High School: Walkers may enter through the main entrance. A table should be available in the commons area to place coats. People will be able to walk around the commons area and hallways that are open. If the weather is nice, outdoor maps created by Don Christensen will be available for people to follow.
A news release for the event said the idea of the event is that National Walking Day is just a start, as the entire month of April can be a prime time to start making changes in one’s eating and exercise routines.
In other news, for those who participated last year, Get Healthy Watertown is in the process of planning the Moving Forward For 30 event to be held in early fall.
