New Polling Sites In Hanover, Butler Townships

October 4, 2018

WILKES-BARRE — Polling sites will change in six voting districts in Luzerne County for the November election.

The county board of elections on Wednesday approved the site changes. County election workers will send postcards to voters in the affected voting districts to inform them of the change, said Marisa Crispell, county director of elections.

The changes will also be announced in newspaper ads and on the county elections website, Crispell said. On election day, notices will be posted at each former polling site, directing voters to the new site, she said.

The site changes — four in Butler Twp. and two in Hanover Twp. — will improve accessibility for those with physical challenges, election officials have said.

The new polling sites in Butler Twp. are:

n District 1: Township community center, (meeting room), 411 W. Butler Dr., Drums.

n Districts 2 and 3: District Council 21 Painters Union Hall. 66 Azalea Dr., Drums.

n District 4: Township community center, (gym), 411 W. Butler Dr., Drums.

Voters in Hanover Twp. Ward 1 will vote at the township fire department headquarters, 1586 Sans Souci Parkway.

The new polling site for Hanover Twp. Ward 6 will be the county records storage facility, 85 Young St.

Previous plans to relocate multiple voting wards to the township fire department headquarters were changed due to safety concerns about traffic and visibility on the heavily traveled Sans Souci Parkway, Crispell said.

The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election is Tuesday.
