MALDEN, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say they have dismantled a major marijuana distribution ring that operated out of Malden.

Police on Thursday arrested seven people, seized six unlicensed guns and ammunition, and several bags of marijuana during raids at several addresses in the city.

The Middlesex district attorney's office says the drug ring distributed more than 400 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $1 million. The pot was mailed to Massachusetts from California.

Authorities say an investigation was launched several months ago after police intercepted a carefully packaged delivery of 12 pounds of marijuana mailed to one of the suspects.

Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone says those arrested were members of the Maplewood Organization, responsible for much of the violence in the city.
