Claypool woman facing child porn, exploiting counts
A Claypool woman was arrested on child exploitation and child pornography charges after an investigation by the Indiana State Police who said they found disturbing images on her cellphone.
Roselyn Beatrice Burkhart, 38, of North Rebecca Street in Claypool, was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail after being arrested at home Thursday, Indiana State Police said.
Court records dated Friday said Burkhart “did knowingly or intentionally manage a photograph” or possess a photograph of children younger than 18 years of age engaged in sexual conduct. Two photos were allegedly of children engaged in bestiality.
One photo featured children less than 12 years old engaged in sexual conduct while in bondage, court documents said.
The investigation into Burkhart’s activities started several months ago after the state police Crimes Against Children Task Force got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The investigation led to the Burkhart address, police said.
Burkhart obtained the child pornography from the internet. The material was uploaded June 19 to Burkhart’s cellular device, according to court documents.
Burkhart gave officers permission to search her cellphone and they found the pornographic material.
She admitted to officers that she downloaded child porn from the internet to another person’s KIK account, a privacy app that allows users to chat with other KIK users through text messages, photos and video messages. The other person is listed as a resident at the same address.
Burkhart then sent the downloaded images to her cellphone using the other person’s Facebook Messenger to her Facebook Messenger and to her devices, the release said.
Burkhart is charged with two counts of child exploitation and two counts of child pornography.
Indiana State Police Detective Eric Fields was assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Claypool Town Marshal and the Indiana Department of Child Services, the ISP release said.
