Leading Indicators Rises in March

NEW YORK (AP) _ A key measure of future economic activity rose 0.2 percent in March, a sign that economic growth will continue through the rest of the year.

The Conference Board reported today that its Index of Leading Indicators for March stood at 105.2, up from 105 in Feburary. The gain in March, which matched economists’ projections, marked the leading index’s third consecutive monthly advance.

``The leading indicators point to an expanding economy throughout 1998,″ the private research group said in the report.
