Ludington City Council to appoint acting city manager; consider forming marijuana committee
The Ludington City Council on Monday will appoint a current a city employee to become the acting city manager until a new manager is hired and starts working
Interim City Manager Steve Brock’s contract expires on Monday. In a memorandum to the council, Brock recommended Assistant to the City Manager Jackie Steckel to become the acting city manager.
“Her awareness of the issues and presence in the office make her the right choice,” Brock stated.
On Thursday, the council interviewed three candidates for city manager and decided to extend a conditional job offer to candidate Mitch Foster, beginning a long process of background checks and contract negotiations.
Brock estimated that if Foster accepts the position, he would start as the new city manager in early March.
