Two killed in fiery crash on Stellhorn Road
Two people were killed in a fiery crash this evening on Stellhorn Road.
Emergency services responded just after 5 p.m. to the 3700 block of Stellhorn on reports of a crash with two cars on fire. When first responders arrived, they found two vehicles, one fully involved on fire and one partially involved, according to Mark Bieker, public information officer.
According to police, one vehicle had been traveling eastbound on Stellhorn Road when it began to lose control in the icy conditions and spun around. The second vehicle, traveling eastbound, tried to avoid the other car. They crashed in the middle of the road and immediately burst into flames, according to Bieker.
Two occupants pulled out of in the fully involved car were pronounced dead at the scene by medics. The driver in the other vehicle was outside the car when first responders arrived, and was taken to a hospital with chest pain in fair condition.
Stellhorn Road will be closed to traffic for a while as the crash is cleaned up.
The victims will be ID’d at a later date. The crash remains under investigation.
