Massachusetts man pleads guilty to dismembering roommate
WOBURN, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison for killing and then dismembering his 66-year-old roommate.
Prosecutors say 57-year-old Anthony Canejo Sr. was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the January 2014 death of Vincent Lalli.
Authorities say Canejo, Canejo’s 34-year-old son, and Lalli had been roommates, but Lalli had taken out a restraining order against Canejo Sr. requiring him to stay away from their Somerville apartment.
Canejo Sr. went to the apartment to retrieve some belongings after being told by his son that Lalli was asleep.
Prosecutors say the men got into a fight, Canejo Sr. killed Lalli, dismembered the body in the bathtub, then disposed of the parts in plastic bags in Somerville and Norwood.
Lalli was identified as the victim through fingerprints.
