SALT LAKE CITY (AP) _ Wilson Foods Company said Friday it’s recalling some corn tortillas because they contain traces of an unapproved variety of biotech corn.
The corn, known as StarLink, is not approved for human consumption because of questions about its potential to cause allergic reactions.
The ``Lynn Wilson Yellow Corn Tortillas″ came in 8 oz. 12-count bags with code 70010; 11 oz. 12-count bags with code 70210; 32 oz. bags with code 70810 and 12-dozen bags with code 71213. They are marked with sell-by dates of 12/7, 12/10, 12/14 and 12/17.
The tortillas were sold mainly in the Salt Lake City area, but some went to Boise, Idaho, and Great Falls and Billings, Mont. They may be returned to stores for a full refund.
The Food and Drug Administration has released a list of about 300 recalled products made with StarLink. Mission Foods Co. recalled all its products Oct. 13.
