Christian Chau (21 kills) and Poe Reh (20 kills) played well at the net as Lowell edged Chelmsford, 3-2, in a Merrimack Valley Conference boys volleyball match.

Elsewhere, Lowell Catholic was a 3-0 winner over Essex Tech.

Bu Reh helped set the offense in motion with 40 assists as the Red Raiders outlasted Chelmsford, 25-21, 26-28, 25-17, 22-25, 15-11.

Lowell improved its record to 3-0 on the young season.

Ian Van Haren led the way for Chelmsford with 38 assists, 4 blocks and 11 digs.

Evan Wang (11 digs), Kevin Arokia Raja (11 kills, 6 blocks), Liam McGinty (10 kills) and Sean Beauregard (7 kills) played well for the Lions.

Luke McFadyen dished out 29 assists to power the Crusaders to the 25-15, 27-25, 25-16 victory.

Sean O’Keefe and Patrick McKenna each had 10 kills for Lowell Catholic (3-1).

O’Keefe earned 5 aces. Bryan Byun contributed 6 kills and 5 aces.

Billerica 0

Andover topped Billerica, 25-20, 25-20, 25-23, in an MVC match.

Tim Smilgis led the way for the Indians with 7 kills. Jeff Davis (5 kills) and Liam McDermott (9 assists) played well.

Despite 12 kills and 3 blocks from Kevin Stevenson, the Raiders dropped the MVC encounter 25-12, 25-19, 25-27, 25-19.

Jack Roderick dished out 28 assists, Alex Nadeau had 20 digs, and Ben Boutelis contributed 8 service points and 2 aces for Central (2-1).
