South Florida 56, Florida Atlantic 55

December 17, 1995

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ Donzel Rush and Eric Kinslow each scored 11 points to lead the South Florida to a 56-55 victory Saturday over Florida Atlantic.

Craig Buchanan scored a career-high 24 points but it wasn’t enough as Florida Atlantic (2-4) failed to take advantage of a South Florida (5-1) technical foul and an inbounds play with less than 32 seconds remaining.

Kinslow hit a 3-pointer with 1:46 left but fouled Derek Jackson on a layup. Kinslow was assessed a technical as well.

Jackson, an 81-percent free-throw shooter, missed the free throw to complete the 3-point play, leaving the score 56-54.

Rob Ritter, completing the technical, made one of his 10 points hitting one-of-one.

Buchanan drove to the basket on the inbounds pass, but Rush and James Harper blocked the shot as the buzzer went off.

Harper also had 16 rebounds.

South Florida stormed out to an early 11-2 lead less than five minutes into the game. But the Owls worked inside with forwards Ritter and Buchanan to tie the game at the 13 minute mark.

The lead never got to be more than 4 points for either team.
