Mother struggling with bills, transportation reaches out for help
A 49-year-old mother of three says she is job hunting and has fallen behind on bills.
Her electricity bill is $400 in arrears, her application says, and because she lacks auto insurance on her car, her vehicle registration was suspended.
Because the brakes need repairs and its bald tires need to be replaced, she wrote, “my car is operating unsafe and illegal.” But she says she needs it to take her children to school and for medical appointments.
She is among hundreds of people asking for help from the Empty Stocking Fund this season.
