Sparks’ Zheng To Get Knee Surgery
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) _ Los Angeles Sparks center Haixia Zheng is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday to repair torn cartilage in her right knee.
The 6-foot-8 Zheng hurt her knee during the Sparks’ 77-73 loss to Charlotte last week. She was averaging 7.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
The team won’t know how long she’ll be sidelined until after the surgery.
Zheng, a four-time Chinese Olympian, will be the second Sparks player to undergo surgery this season. Rookie Allison Feaster had surgery to repair a broken bone in her foot June 19 and will be sidelined at least six weeks.
