McLEAN, Va. (AP) — Police in Virginia say a woman shot two children, leaving one dead and the second with life-threatening injuries.

Fairfax County police said Monday that 33-year-old Victoria Youngblood is charged with second-degree murder in the Sunday night shooting at a McLean apartment.

Spokeswoman Tara Gerhard said at a news conference that officers responding to a report of a shooting found two children. One was dead and the other was taken to a hospital. Police say that child’s in life-threatening condition.

Police say Youngblood was arrested in Loudoun County after knocking on an acquaintance’s door. She’s being held without bond. It’s unclear whether she has a lawyer.

Police declined to release Youngblood’s relationship to the children, or any other details about them, saying state law prohibits identifying deceased juvenile crime victims.
