Phoenix police: Officers fatally shoot man during struggle
PHOENIX (AP) — Phoenix police say two officers responding to a trespassing call fatally shot a man during a struggle over a weapon early Thursday.
Police say no officers were injured and that a woman who was in a car with the 29-year-old man was arrested on an unrelated felony warrant.
According to police, a handgun fell to the ground when the man opened his car door as the officers approached and that a struggle ensued when the man dove toward the gun and grabbed it.
Police said one officer struggled with the man who refused to release the gun while the other officer struck the man and used a stun gun and that the officers shot the man when turned and pointed the gun at them.
No identities were released.
