Man in street delays traffic
NORFOLK — A Norfolk man walking in traffic ended up getting arrested on Tuesday morning.
Capt. Mike Bauer of the Norfolk Police Division said police were called Tuesday shortly before 8 a.m. with a number of complaints about a man walking in the westbound traffic lanes of the 800 block of Pasewalk Avenue.
The rain made it difficult to see the man and traffic was backed up for over a block. Officers arrived and located the man blocking traffic in the 1100 block of Pasewalk Avenue, Bauer said.
He refused to identify himself or comply with the officers’ requests, police said.
The man continued onto South 13th Street and was allegedly walking in the middle of the roadway. He continued to refuse to move to the sidewalk.
The man, later identified as Moses T. Roemhildt, 19, Norfolk, was arrested for obstruction of a police officer. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
