Chiefs Sign Safety, Two Tight Ends
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ The Kansas City Chiefs have signed safety Vann Washington, and tight ends Brian Gaine and Jim Moore, all free agents, to two-year contracts, the team said Tuesday.
Washington, 23, was on the Chiefs’ practice squad last season after joining the club as a rookie free agent. In 34 starts at West Virginia, he had 250 tackles and 10 interceptions.
Gaine, 25, spent the 1997 season on the New York Giants’ practice squad. He started in the NFL as a rookie free agent with the New York Jets in 1996. In 22 starts at Maine, he caught 74 passes for 719 yards and scored six touchdowns.
Moore, 25, a native of Garden City, Kan., was a rookie free agent last season with the Tennessee Oilers, who released him before the season started. At Kansas, Moore caught 45 passes for 573 yards and seven scores.
