Albany keeps Hartford at bay with 69-63 win behind Cremo
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Joe Cremo scored 21 points, Travis Charles had 14 and nine rebounds and Albany beat Harford 69-63 on Sunday.
David Nichols also scored 14 points, Costa Anderson 11 and Greg Stire grabbed 11 rebounds for the Great Danes (19-8, 7-5 America East) who have won three of their last four contests. Cremo made 11 of Albany’s 21 free throws.
Albany led 32-28 at halftime before Hartford rallied to tie it at 39 with John Carroll’s layup. Cremo later scored six points during an 8-0 run for a 50-42 lead. Carroll’s two foul shots reduced the deficit to 55-54 with 3:12 left before Nichols followed with a 3. Albany made 8 of 12 foul shots in the last minute to secure the win.
J.R. Lynch led Hartford (14-11, 7-4) with 19 points, Carroll scored 16 and Travis Weatherington 10. The Hawks were just 4 of 18 from distance.
