Ohio U. 27, Kent 14

KENT, Ohio (AP) _ Thomas Dubbs completed three touchdown passes Saturday to help Ohio University beat Mid-American Conference rival Kent 27-14.

Dubbs made 10 of 23 attempts for a total of 147 yards to improve the Bobcats to 1-1, while the Golden Flashes dropped to 0-2.

Timothy Curtis helped with his 28 carries for 141 yards.

Running back Troy Robinson led Kent, with nine carries for 180 yards, including two touchdowns.

Ohio took the lead in the first quarter on a 36-yard pass by Dubbs to Wayne Clements, followed by Jeff Marchant’s field goal.

Kent came back in the second quarter thanks to a 58-yard Robinson run. He followed up with a 1 yard run with 2:12 on the clock in the second to take the lead 14-10.

Ohio U. came back with a 16-yard Dubbs pass to Chris Jenkins with three seconds left in the half.

Ohio kept up the momentum in the third quarter, with Dubbs throwing his third touchdown pass, this time to junior Courtney Burton.

The Bobcats wrapped it up with a Marchant 26-yard field goal.
