Police: Man forged inheritance letter from dead friend
SHELTON, Conn. (AP) — Police in Connecticut have arrested a man they say forged a letter from his dead friend in which the deceased left the suspect all his belongings.
Shelton police Detective Richard Bango in a statement to Hearst Connecticut Media said officers responded to an apartment in town for a report of an unresponsive male on April 19.
They found 45-year-old Jorge Ospina performing CPR on a friend who was later pronounced dead.
Police say they also found a letter from the dead man in which he left all his possessions to Ospina. They determined the inheritance letter was forged.
An autopsy on the friend determined he died of natural causes.
Ospina was charged with attempted larceny, forgery and evidence tampering.
No defense attorney was listed in court records.
