The Collective to host artisan market

La PORTE — Local startup group The Collective is hosting its inaugural artisan market on March 16 at the La Porte Civic Auditorium.

A portion of proceeds from the market will benefit Lakeshore Paws, a dog rescue that serves Northwest Indiana.

The market will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the La Porte Civic Auditorium, 1001 Ridge St., La Porte. Admission is $5 for guests 13 and over.

More than 50 small, local businesses will be at the market selling handcrafted, up-cycled and vintage merchandise, such as jewelry, bath and body care, gourmet food, vintage home decor and clothing.

The Collective will be donating a portion of admission fees to Lakeshore Paws, several artisan vendors will be donating 10 percent of their sales from the market event, and Burn ’Em Brewing will be donating the money from sales of a specialty beer they brewed exclusively for the market.

Representatives from Lakeshore Paws will be on-site with adoptable dogs and information on how to get involved. Market guests are welcome to bring donations on the day of the event, which can be monetary or an item from the list below:

• Liquid bleach

• Paper towels

• White copy paper

• Easy-walk harnesses

• Puppy size (extra small & small) leashes and collars

• Toys/balls for tough chewers

• Kong products

• Puzzle/interactive toys

• Grain-free dog treats

• Small training treats

• Peanut butter (without xylitol)

• Wet dog food

• Canned pumpkin

• Antler chews

• Crates (all types & sizes)

• Exercise pens

• Kitchen and larger size garbage bags

• Gifts cards for gasoline or VISA gift cards

• Fleece throws and bath towels

• Sandwich and quart size Ziploc bags

• Hand soap

This market is the first of four markets hosted by The Collective this calendar year. Each market will benefit a different local nonprofit and will feature numerous small businesses in the region.
